LEADERSHIP IN A TIME OF CRISIS
From the outset of the COVID-19 crisis, concern for the welfare of our ambassador team, from a personal health and safety standpoint, but also their ability to sustain themselves and their families financially as we weathered the storm, guided the decision making of our boards of directors. Issues of air quality as a result of raging wildfires in California added to our concerns and required quick and decisive action to further ensure the safety of our team. As much as it is our priority to provide the invaluable services our stakeholder community has come to rely on, the caretaking of our team was paramount and we made deployment decisions with that in mind.
After the lifting of the initial Shelter in Place order on April 8th, we prepared for full deployment of ambassador resources with critical steps being taken to mitigate contamination and ensure the highest levels of safety for our staff and the public we serve. These efforts included, but were not limited to, staggering deployments to minimize overlap, creating two separate work sites, and daily deep cleaning of each worksite. Working closely with our vendor, Block by Block, we added additional layers of safety for our ambassador team in the field, including messaging on uniforms related to social distancing requirements, and the creation of new training videos specific to communicating with the general public and how to keep appropriate distance for each Ambassador and the proper way to disinfect equipment.
