Requests can include: buddy escorts, litter removal, umbrella escorts, graffiti removal, power washing, or reporting a crime.

For buddy escorts, please give us at least 15 minutes advance notice to ensure that you’re added to our schedule.


For emergencies or crimes in progress, please call 911.

If you’re a property owner seeking graffiti removal, fill out our permission form.

Call Oakland Public Works at 311 for other requests such as downed trees or sewer overflows or responses to non-violent emergencies.

Our Mission

Our Hospitality and Maintenance Ambassadors provide a steady, visible presence throughout downtown Oakland. Operating seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, they greet visitors, offer directions, escort employees and residents, and care for streets and public spaces.
In 2025, increased stakeholder investment expanded our Clean & Safe program from 31 to 63 full-time team members, strengthening service across both districts. Maintenance crews, pressure-washing teams, public safety coordinators, outreach staff, and dispatch technicians work together to support daily operations.

This work happens consistently—day after day—often behind the scenes, but always visible where it matters. Together, these teams help keep downtown Oakland clean, safe, and welcoming while supporting the businesses, residents, and workers who rely on it.
